{"id":22,"date":"2021-12-19T12:46:56","date_gmt":"2021-12-19T12:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2022-01-30T16:47:01","modified_gmt":"2022-01-30T16:47:01","slug":"homepage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/","title":{"rendered":"Homepage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-link-color\">Rachel Emily Taylor makes works that involve mis- or under-represented people from history, with a particular interest in how the past can be reconstructed, which she explores through residencies and collaborations with <span class=\"rolloverContainer\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/category\/museums-and-archives\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"4\" class=\"museums\" id=\"museumLink\">museums and archives<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/option-2.jpg\" id=\"rollover1\" class=\"rolloverImage\"><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color\">In 2018, she completed a practice-based <span class=\"rolloverContainer\"><a class=\"phdcolor\" id=\"phdLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/phd\/\">PhD<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"rollover2\" class=\"rolloverImage\" src=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/PhD-Box-6_1340_c.jpg\"><\/a><\/span>, titled <em>Heritage as Process<\/em>, which was fully-funded by the AHRC. The project explored how art practice might communicate the historical person\u2019s <span class=\"rolloverContainer\"><a class=\"voice\" id=\"voiceLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/category\/voice\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"5\">voice<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"rollover3\" class=\"rolloverImage\" src=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/option-1.png\"><\/a><\/span> and analysed the representation of the individual or \u2018character\u2019 in museums.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is writing <em>Illustration and Heritage <\/em>for Bloomsbury Publishing, which will be printed in 2023. Grounding discussions in concepts fundamental to the illustrator, the book explores the re-materialisation of absent, lost, and invisible stories through illustrative practice and examines the potential role of contemporary illustration in cultural heritage.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color\">Rachel and Leah Fusco established <span class=\"rolloverContainer\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.remote--sensing.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"remote\" id=\"remoteLink\">Remote Sensing<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/option-1-copy.jpg\" id=\"rollover4\" class=\"rolloverImage\"><\/a><\/span>, a platform designed to share&nbsp;knowledge, approaches,&nbsp;and&nbsp;challenges in place-based fieldwork, with a focus on collections, sites, and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color\">Rachel is currently the Course Leader on <span class=\"rolloverContainer\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"illustration\" id=\"illustrationLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.ac.uk\/subjects\/illustration\/undergraduate\/ba-hons-illustration-camberwell#course-summary\" target=\"_blank\">BA Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"rollover5\" class=\"rolloverImage\" src=\"http:\/\/www.topographicwebdesign.co.uk\/ret\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/BA_illustration.jpg\"><\/a><\/span>.
