Introduction and Course Content
Beginners will learn how to use sewing and over-locking machines and to make a series of samples including a variety of seams, pockets, inserted zips and collars before starting on own projects.
Intermediate and advanced students will be supported in the making of garments using commercial or own patterns, learning any relevant new skills as required, under the supervision and assistance of our qualified Fashion tutor.
Sewing techniques, you may learn or refresh include:
– Introduction and consolidation to the use of sewing and overlocking machines
– Use of commercial patterns or own designs
Beginners will learn to:
– Insert a variety of zips
– Apply a range of pockets
– Make a range of collars and cuffs
– Apply a range of seams
– Use a variety of machine feet including zipper foot
– Learners with previous knowledge will be able to apply the above to garments old and new
There is a maximum of 12 students for this class.
Entry Requirements and Assessment
All levels. This course is for adult (18yrs plus) learners with no knowledge of clothes making as well as for learners who have previous experience.
You work will be assessed by the tutor.

Resources
You will have the use of all equipment in the workroom including: large tables, sewing machines, over-lockers, irons & metal rulers.
Material Costs
You will need to supply all fabrics, haberdashery & your own sewing kit, list available at first session. Some materials can be purchased from the tutor. Price list available in the classroom.
